3 Plant-based Milk Recipes

1. Creamy Sunflower Milk

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup raw sunflower seeds

  • 4 cups filtered water

  • 2-3 pitted dates (optional for sweetness)

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Soak the sunflower seeds in water overnight or for at least 6 hours. Drain and rinse.

  2. Place the soaked sunflower seeds in a blender with 4 cups of filtered water.

  3. Add dates and vanilla extract for extra sweetness and flavor if desired.

  4. Blend on high speed until smooth and creamy.

  5. Strain the mixture through a nut milk bag or cheesecloth to remove any pulp.

  6. Transfer the sunflower milk to a glass jar or bottle and refrigerate. It will keep for up to 4-5 days.

2. Silky Oat Milk

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup rolled oats

  • 4 cups filtered water

  • 1-2 tablespoons maple syrup or sweetener of choice (optional)

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Add oats and filtered water to a blender.

  2. Add maple syrup and vanilla extract for sweetness and flavor if desired.

  3. Blend on high speed for about 30-45 seconds until the mixture becomes smooth and frothy.

  4. Strain the mixture through a nut milk bag or cheesecloth to remove any remaining solids.

  5. Pour the oat milk into a glass jar or bottle and refrigerate. It will stay fresh for up to 4-5 days.

3. Creamy Coconut Milk

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups unsweetened shredded coconut

  • 4 cups hot water (not boiling)

  • 1-2 tablespoons maple syrup or sweetener of choice (optional)

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Place the shredded coconut in a blender.

  2. Add hot water to the blender and let it sit for 10-15 minutes to allow the coconut to soften.

  3. Blend on high speed for about 2-3 minutes until the mixture becomes creamy and smooth.

  4. Strain the mixture through a nut milk bag or cheesecloth, squeezing out as much liquid as possible.

  5. Add maple syrup and vanilla extract for sweetness and flavor if desired, and blend again briefly.

  6. Transfer the coconut milk to a glass jar or bottle and refrigerate. It will keep for up to 4-5 days.
